Troop 99 spent the weekend at Fort Mountain State Park in February 2025. We stayed in the rustic sites which have no running water. It was a great experience for some of the younger scouts that have never camped like that before. This was also the first time that many scouts needed to be “bear aware”. Because of the number of black bears in the area, all foods had to locked up in bear proof boxes that look like tool boxes.

The weather was also unpredictable. We had foggy conditions nearly the entire weekend with on and off rain. On Saturday night, we had a rather large front move through that brought heavy rains and a tornado warning. We were all safe but some of us got a little wetter than expected.
Overall it was a great trip! definitely a place we will visit again.
